The lightning tawny owl - spoken word

when buying some old photos I bought a bag of paper for collage. I used all the words except "kong". I wrote it out and punctuated it. Then I turned it into an alphabetical list - then I "poetised" the list - put into lines but still alphabetical. I left out one word: Kong
Below is a photo of the words of the 3 parts - and a mistake of the list that turned sideways looks - well you can see. I found it interesting to see how the three bits "looked" when recorded.
You will need to click on the photo as it is either small or escapes beyond the edges of the post...

I made the collage/image as a card for a dear friend's birthday

Raindrops on the steady flow of river; the scent of wallflowers over the edge; red valerian budding: waiting for the bus on the Strand.

Whitby arriving

Sunset caught in curling drifting cloud and fog on dark velvet moor. Red brick buildings made richer by the light, windows shine orange back at the sun.

Spring

A great tit throws his song about regularly paced but at odds with everything. Low sun through birch trees, through windows – no flicker, the air is still.

response to Text Festival Bury - in it, getting there, around and about

Currently the Text Festival is on at Bury Art Gallery and Museum
This post is a little delayed...I went to the opening night and the events on Saturday.
A bit of an adventure really - up to Lancaster by train. Then down to Bury by car via 20 mile detour. Then Saturday's journey by train and bus. I do not do these things lightly - health and UV have to be considered [an annoying condition of photosensitivity leaves me often looking like a bandit]

So words being one of my favourite materials to work with I have created a document combining things over heard and observed on the journey and in the gallery - these then include written and spoken word pieces by other artists.

A LINK TO THE DOCUMENT
within the document there are many more links to artists mentioned - there are some pictures too.

The spoken word version - of course no pictures except of the wonderful tactile text invite

A piece of writing from last year's Untitled Holy Hiatus

Last year I did the 6 hour work without Lou. My health was not good. I decided to take in my laptop - with only access to write - no times visible, in case I wanted to write as I was there.
the result can be found by following THIS LINK

There was a projection in the space - the overlaying of black & white cctv footage from 2008 and 2012

Extract:

In not in here not here.
Feet object to use. I see much of myself on video preparing for the first time. Bill, Ann – Ann also on the overlay of last year – Liz vacuuming. Lou, even Lou, spreading the words over the floor.
No one came in with the bell – the recording of sound is a few minutes ahead of time today and the video far behind. The voice rings out – I get distracted wondering if they have put thyme on the pebbles that arrived in the nick of time.
I have put a bee out of the window, not a bumble not a honey some other bee. The window is now closed.

I see me in close canon 2008 2012 feet almost planted all together.

THIS IS A LINK TO SPOKEN WORD VERSION - I use the airing cupboard as a recording studio but the bats are now a bit noisy and their scamper & chatter can be heard

hello! P&P

made for Salon de Textes Edition 2
artists were asked to respond to recordings made by those who were performing on the evening of April 11th 2014
This is my response to Mark Leahy's hello! this is a test

Initially I turned the document into a book - tied with red silk ribbon and matching my own works based on Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice.

in progress

A LINK to a document - a work in progress. I think I will record it read aloud, it might become less work in progress then.
I'm making this link because I get frustrated with formatting on blogger! And the writing is then as I experience it - on an A4 page [in this case] of sorts, despite being a screen and the size of the page is mutable

identity

when is a line a drawing? when is it a string of words? what does it say? how does it say it? does it hang just outside comprehension? pegged onto dreams and missmelled memories?
